Human Centred Design at the NDIS New World Conference

People with disability want to realise their full potential as adults, and that includes sexuality.

NI’s Clinical Director Samantha Frain and Snr Project Officer Meaghan Vosz got the blood pumping at the NDIS New World Conference Masterclass ‘Welcome to the Age of the Customer’ in October when they presented a case study on human centred design, sexuality and people with disability to a jam-packed room.

“The process started with a standard independent living skills session, and through many iterations and working collaboratively with users, we delivered Feel the Vibe sexpos and 1:1 consultations with people,” said Sam. “For some people this is taboo, but we hear that people with disability want to realise their full potential as adults, and that includes sexuality,” she said.

Northcott Innovation is now looking to partner with innovators, inventors and users to develop innovative sex toy solutions. “This is just another small part of what’s possible if we really place people with disability at the centre of our thinking and innovating, deeply understanding their needs and wants, and involving them in our product and service design,” said Sam.
