Support Worker Festival

A learning and networking event specifically designed for disability support workers 

Northcott Innovation is proud to introduce our pilot series of Support Worker Festivals – initiatives funded by the Department of Social Services.

Our Support Worker Festivals aim to invigorate, educate and allow networking opportunities for disability support workers (DSWs) throughout Australia.

Presentation programs have been designed with significant input from a wide range of DSWs. The aim of the events is to deliver an unmet need in this much valued industry, offering many learning opportunities while allowing DSWs to network with other DSWs in an effort to form long-term connections.

Topics on offer will include:

• Advice around supporting safe and fulfilling relationships with your clients
• You can’t ask that! (no questions not allowed to a person with lived experience)
• Sole Trader versus working for a large organisation – pros and cons of each
• Expert advice on a variety of DSW specific topics (understanding different disabilities, therapy options, behavior support)
• Come and try new services – ideas to get creative or active with your clients!
• Supporting your client to enjoy sexual relationships – just because someone has disability doesn’t mean they are not sexual
• Communication – We aren’t all the same! Supporting someone with specific communication needs 
• DSW 101 – hints and tips to be a great DSW!
• Chill out areas to chat, eat, drink and network

Tickets are free and available now for our two NSW events. Events are offered in an AM or PM time slot in an effort to meet differing shift types. 

Please note, these events are designed for people who are either currently working as a disability support worker or considering working as a disability support worker.
