What is Happening at Nest!

Published in November 2018

Nest is a project run by the team here at Northcott Innovation; it’s an online home matching platform linking people with disability looking for homes with Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) rooms that meet their accommodation and support funding requirements and personal preferences. The Nest matching platform uses a powerful algorithm to find properties and rooms that match the things you tell us about what you want in a home and the funding you have.

Since officially launching in April of this year, the team at Nest have been very busy! We have been moving from region to region as we make our way around to host forum and information sessions and let everyone know about Nest. So far we have visited Adelaide, Canberra, North Coast, Hunter Region, Coffs Harbour, Central West and Albury!

What does Nest look like today?

  • 402 people with disability- an average of 55 registrations per month.
  • 477 carers/agents
  • 173 property suppliers
  • 260 properties

What is next for Nest?

  • The team at Nest will be going to Western Australia and Queensland, as we have gained interest from disability support providers in both states.
  • We will be launching the ‘new Nest’ within the next few months, which will include community, social and affordable housing, as well as private rentals. This is to allow a wider range of accessible housing to be featured on our website, as there still needs to be a platform for these homes to be advertised.
